Back to Kuantan – Day 2

9th Mar – The second day of our trip. It was a good weather in the morning. We left the house around 8 and went to a cafeteria to get our breakfast. After we spend around half an hour on our breakfast, we left there around 9 and went straight to the highway again.

It’s been quite a while that I didn’t go back to my hometown. This is because my dad usually come up to KL instead we go back to Kuantan. By the way, all our relatives are in KL except my dad who loves to be in Kuantan due to its weather and his friends there. Furthermore, most of my friend in Kuantan is either I have lost contact with them or they’re now working in KL. :(

Anyway, the first stop we are going to is my mom resting place. It was reside in a temple where it is open to public to come and visit. When we reached there, it was around noon and we accidentally found a lake nearby the temple. I believe it was build just recently because the paint, the structure there all seems quite new. Anyway, after a picture session at the lake and pray for my mom at the temple, we headed to the town for our lunch.

There weren’t many changes in the town except there’s a lot of new building under construction. A view on those building, I can see most of them are shop lot instead of office block. As far as I concern, the population in Kuantan was little, therefore I conclude that the buying power there isn’t high. However, there are already so many shop lots available, plus the shopping plaza and mall. Is building shop lot becoming a trend? Don’t ask me.

After we’ve finished our lunch nearby the Kuantan main market, we went back to my dad’s condo to put down our luggage and rest. Later, we went out again to get dried food which is the famous in Kuantan. They have a lot variety there including fish, squid, shrimp, nuts and beans. After we have done with our purchases, we headed to the beach – Teluk Cempedak. Here they have 24 hours McDonald (Another 24 hours McDonald that I’ve seen was in Genting) and we went there to have our tea time. We took couple of photos there and due to the day was late, we decided to come back tomorrow for more photos.

At night, my dad took us out for dinner at one of the newly open steamboat restaurant in Kuantan. It uses porridge instead of soup for the customer to cook the dishes. One thing I like about the restaurant is environment where it was clean and comfort. The dishes were quite good when served with porridge. This sort of steamboat wasn’t new in KL but I believe it was new for the people in Kuantan. After the dinner and my dad went back to his house for sleep, we stopped by a satay restaurant (Zul’s satay) to take away some satay for supper, while on our way back to the condo. The satay was really good and fortunately my gf like it. We went to sleep around midnight after finished the satay and planned to go to Cherating on tomorrow.

Back to Kuantan – Day 1

I and my gf have planned with my colleague to go Thailand – Koh Sa Mui for vacation couples of month ago. We got the ticket thru a promotion and it’s a bargain with that low price air fare. However, in the end, it turn out that I have mismanaged my financial and I have no choice but to skip this trip with them. (Perhaps I can join on the coming vacation trip which they are currently planning it now :D) Anyway, since I’m not going to Thailand plus I and my gf have already took leave in my company, so we decided to go back to my hometown – Kuantan for vacation. It was a 3 days trip, so I’ll blog it in 3 separate blog.

8th Mar - I woke up early in the morning by my alarm clock. I brushed up, checked and picked up my luggage, heading towards my car and ready to go. Then I was stopped by my uncle telling me that I have a 'stock' to deliver for my father lived in Kuantan. He went back to the kitchen, took out a bucket of Alor Vera and put it at the back seat of my car. Furthermore, he instructed me to put those Alor Vera on standing position because it will be damaged if it was on lying position. After some adjustment, I found that the back seat seat belt comes in very handy for this problem.

After everything all set, I went to pick up my gf and we went to the near by “kopitiam” for breakfast. After the breakfast, we headed straight to the highway to Kuantan. 30 minutes later, we have traveled 1/5 of the distance and my car was going down from a slope. Then suddenly, the whole windscreen just cracked. I didn’t see any flying object coming from the front and I have no idea what happened because it happened so fast. Nevertheless, I have to slow down my car and check my gf condition whether she’s alright. Luckily, no one was hurt and then I asked, ”Should we keep going or head back to KL?”. I know; it’s a stupid question. So, we headed back to KL to fix the windscreen and it turn out it will take quite some time. By the time the windscreen is fixed, it was late and we decided to postpone the trip to tomorrow.

Shoes

I've written about shoe before (Title: shoe hunting) and this time, it was my neighbour's shoe. :D One day, I saw them hanging on the fence to dry and it reminds me of my childhood. (How I miss those wonderful days, except that i have to wash my own shoe)

I've been tagged

I was tagged by Lydia and here are the statements.

List 5 weird or random things about yourself:
  1. I'm not a basketball player - My height was 183cm (maybe i'll be taller next year), and everybody on first time they know me will ask, "Are you a basketball player at school?"
  2. I talk to non living object or to myself - Strange indeed that I'm still running around in the city where i should be in a sanitarum. Recent line used on talk to non living object: "Wah, 30 cents ah!" after reading the online news and talk to the monitor.
  3. I looked 5 years younger than my real age - I don't know why, every time i ask my new friend to guess my age, they always answer 5 years younger than my real age. When i told them my real age, i was expecting the question "What is your secret?" come after and usually it didn't.
  4. I scored 5 years older than my real age on age thinking test - I forgot where the quiz URL, nevertheless it shows my thinking 5 years older than my real age. Maybe my brain is ageing faster than my physical body. (I heard they have anti ageing cream for facial, skin or body in the market. Do they have anti ageing product for brain?)
  5. I'm not good at remembering names. Due to the brain ageing? Hope not.

Colleague's house visit

11th Feb - In the afternoon, I and my GF have arrived at the Wangsa Maju station. We're waiting for our friends to come and pick us up to their house for visit.

It was a custom for chinese to visit friends and family's house during Chinese New Year and get some 'ang pow'. However, the whole celebration last for 15 days and we end up paying the visit on the 14th day.

Anyway, after all the friends have arrived (except for 1), we went for lunch at the nearby area. What's on the menu was 'cendol' and 'rojak'. Both of the malaysian speciality food taste really good and plus the environment was not bad either. Thanks to the weather that which is cloudy and no rain at all on that day. :D

From the left is Teck Aun, Lydia and Zin Lu. Look upon their faces, you can see how good is the food from their smile. :D

After we've finished our lunch, we went back to the station to pick up another friend and went straight to Lydia's house. The first thing we've notice once we enter the gate, there was this whole floor of cactus. It was lydia's father's hobby of growing different type of cactus. If you have growing cactus lately but the cactus keep on dying, maybe you can consult lydia's father for advise. :D

We eat some snacks, chatting, checking around the house, looking at lydia's photo collection and all that, we spend around 2 hours there. Then, we moved to our next destination which is Teck Aun's house.

Teck Aun's house is a bit hard to find because it was located on shop lots. We need to climb thru a staire case beside one of the shop to go to his house. When we finally reached there, It was like a sanctuary hiding inside a city and separated it from the city's hustle and bustle. It was hardly to hear any car noise from there and even more quite than my place which is located in residental area. :D

Anyway, we did the same thing what we do at lydia's house. Eating snacks, chatting, watching TV, checking out Teck Aun's growing up photos and by the time we leave, it was 5 pm in the afternoon.

It was really fun to go their house and we can get to know them more by looking their childhood photos and checking out their room. Hahahaha. Maybe next time we should have some parties at their house and turn their house upside down (which i think it's least likely to happen :D)
